Our Mission
The
mission of EDRS, Inc. is to promote recovery and wellness for those
impacted by eating disorders by providing support, information, and
education to individuals, families, professionals, and the community at
large regarding eating disorders and recovery resources.
Our Goals
- Prevention: Promote public awareness by providing community outreach and education regarding eating disorders prevention, identification, and treatment.
- Referral and Resources: Provide information and education to individuals, families, professionals, and the community at large regarding eating disorders and recovery resources.
- Education: Provide opportunities for ongoing education and collaboration among professionals working with eating disorders and related conditions.
- Treatment Scholarship Fund: Provide assistance to individuals in need of financial support for pursuit of treatment through ongoing fundraising activities.
Our Advisory Board
Adair Look, M.D.
Dr. Look attended medical school at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and completed her psychiatry residency at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard University. Dr. Look trained with Dr. Anne Becker at the Harvard eating disorders program and then worked at Harvard University Health Services as their eating disorders specialist. She has done both clinical work and research in these settings and has run groups for different patient populations within the eating disorder community. After moving with her family to California, Dr. Look was the head of the women's health program at California Pacific Medical Center. She is now in private practice in Santa Rosa, California, and sits on the board of EDRS, Inc. and YWCA Therapy, which focuses on the treatment of patients with eating disorders and on other women's health issues.
Deborah Brenner-Liss
Leslie Hayden-Malloy, RDH, PhD, CCN
Dr. Leslie Hayden-Malloy served on the Board as Secretary and transitioned onto the Advisory Board as the chair of the Hospitality Committee in March of 2011. She is a Board Certified Clinical Nutritionist and has recently joined the EDRS team to help with education and fundraising. She received her doctorate in Nutrition Science and Endocrinology from the University of California, Davis in February of 2001. She has a strong Biochemistry and Dietetics background and teaches Nutrition Science at Santa Rosa Junior College. Leslie has a private practice in Petaluma California, (8 years) and specializes in disordered eating. Her approach focuses on nutritional adequacy and balance of the macro and micronutrients and on nutrition education. She uses several different approaches based on an individual’s uniqueness. These include meal plans as well as intuitive eating. Dr. Leslie’s mission is to provide supportive, nonjudgmental and compassionate care to each individual or family, and help them to achieve health, vitality and bring back the joy of eating whole, nutritious food. Pamela Carlton, M.D.
Dr. Pamela Carlton is an Adolescent Medicine specialist in private practice in Mountain View. Her practice is focused on providing medical treatment and care coordination for adolescents and young adults with eating disorders. Prior to going into private practice, Dr. Carlton was clinical faculty in the Division of Adolescent Medicine at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford where she developed and directed their Adolescent Eating Disorder Parent Education and Support Program. She attended medical school at the University of Southern California and did her Pediatric residency and Adolescent fellowship at Children's Hospital Los Angeles.
Dr. Carlton's book, "Take Charge of your Child's Eating Disorder: A Physician's Step-by-Step Guide to Defeating Anorexia and Bulimia" was released in 2007.
