Accomplishments 2006-2009

Eating Disorders Recovery Services has been a passionate part of my life for the last 3 years. In this short amount of time a growing number of professionals and non professionals in the eating disorder field have joined forces with me to create the following:

Website with resources for treatment, education, and trainings.

Annual Collaborative Gathering at the Petaluma Hospice house where we have networked, supported each others visions, and created working relationships which has fostered self care, and services in this field.

Our collaboration with Petaluma Health Care District  has supported our annual Annual EDAW conference where we have offered free/low fee conferences for the general public, as well as CEU events for professionals.

PHCD has also sponsored our weekly free ANAD support groups for people with eating disorders, and their family and friends.

PHCD  funded our EDRS brochures which give us name and logo recognition, as well as the ability to disseminate needed information about eating disorders, services and resources.

PHCD has also authorized a pilot "professional training program". There is still one training pending; time TBA, that will be offered free of charge to therapists wanting more information in the formation of a treatment team approach when working with individuals with eating disorders.

The Community Health Foundation of Greater Petaluma has provided an "umbrella" for our EDRS treatment fund which allows for tax deductible donations to the fund for those who need financial assistance to get  needed treatment.

Lending Library at 320 Western Ave. in Petaluma offers convenient loan of books to help clients educate themselves about eating disorders. We have benefited from donations from the like of Doris Smeltzer of Andreas' Voice,  Anita Johnson, author of "Eating in the light of the moon", Carol Normandy and Laulelee Roark  from  Beyond Hunger donated  "It's not about Food", and Pamela Carlton MD author of "Take Charge of your Child's Eating Disorder" gifted us with copies of her book.

These are wonderful accomplishments, and I am proud to have been a part of their manifestation.
